MWTA Strides Against Breast Cancer

The MWTA raised $435 towards the NYSUT Strides Against Breast Cancer with a hand made basket from Tina Kowalchuck,

Thanks to an artful display of hard work and leadership, The MWTA raised $435 towards the NYSUT Strides Against Breast Cancer Fundraiser. That almost doubled our contribution from one year ago. With a hand made basket from Tina Kowalchuck. Anita created a gift basket that was the talk of the Regional Leadership Conference last weekend. In fact, it was noted that more locals brought splint wood baskets after seeing ours last year.

Once again, MWTA is setting trends! As it turns out, one of our colleagues from Indian River was the lucky winner of our basket. Surprisingly, 10% of the forty baskets in the raffle were won by tickets sold through the MWTA. This basket and raffle ticket sale was a great example of the generosity of the MWTA and the entire NYSUT organization.

Teachers take a lot of hits these days, and efforts like these are just a small example of the good we do. North Country NYSUT raised over $30,000 this year in the fight against cancer. A big thank you must go out to Anita who once again did yeoman’s work in organizing this year’s fundraiser. Thanks also to Sandy and Trudy for ticket sales, and to all who donated items to our basket. Mike, Bill, Troy, Tim, Anita, and Sandy S. attended the leadership conference this weekend. Look for innovation as a result of the workshops they attended. NYSUT is there for us; let’s use the resources available.
